Flat Party

Flat Party release new EP 'It's All Been Done Before' out now on Submarine Cat Records.

London six-piece Flat Party today release their new EP 'It's All Been Done Before', out now on 12" vinyl and digitally via Submarine Cat Records (FEET, Home Counties, Prima Queen).

Led by vocalist Jack Lawther and guitarist Rory O’Rourke, on new EP 'It's All Been Done Before', Flat Party build on their distinctive theatrical flair, doubling down on heavy distortion, sky-reaching vocal harmonies & wide-eyed orchestration.

Wrapping flamboyance, humour and complex emotions around urgent, shapeshifting indie-rock, since the release of debut single "Fish" late 2022, Flat Party have garnered a reputation as one of the most thrilling live bands in the country, with notable tours and dates supporting English Teacher, Courting, Opus Kink, FEET and Goat Girl - as well as playing up and down the country to rousing sold-out crowds of their own.

Releasing their self-titled debut EP 'Flat Party' in January of 2024, the band have received notable hat tips from international media outlets alongside brilliant radio support at BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Amy Lamé) and Radio X (John Kennedy), Flat Party are only just getting things started.

The EP features two previous unheard songs: "Circle" and "Paranoia/Delicate Dawn", along with the previously released singles "Madonna", "Shotgun" and the EP title track "It's All Been Done Before".

Co-produced with Chris McCrory (Walt Disco, The Joy Hotel), across new EP 'It's All Been Done Before', Flat Party hint at influence from 70's glam-rock, jagged art-rock, noughties alt-rock and everything in between - all the while flirting with ideas surrounding hedonism, desperation, promiscuity and blurry-eyed romanticism as they continue to carve out their own unique universe of colourful indie-rock.

With collective influences ranging from Big Star, Suede and Sparks, to Japanese Breakfast, The Replacements, Manic Street Preachers and David Bowie, Flat Party's music and overriding ethos historically has been rooted in escapism, yet their vision for this EP is more ambitious and sprawling than ever before, as Lawther explains...

"In comparison to the subtle optimism of our debut EP, the songs on our new EP are dark, hedonistic and dramatic.. There’s always been that side of the band present, so it felt right to represent it properly. Sonically, it’s all a lot more intense than the first EP too and we’ve really made the most of our musical arsenal when it comes to the arrangements."

Flat Party kicked off this EP run with a raucous sold-out Windmill Brixton in July - following notable tour dates with English Teacher, Courting, Opus Kink, FEET in spring of this year. In the months that have followed, the band have attracted key tastemaker press support along with consistent glowing airplay from BBC 6 Music's Huw Stephens & Steve Lamacq, and an addition to Radio X's X-Posure playlist.

Flat Party's new EP 'It's All Been Done Before' is out now, on Submarine Cat Records. Flat Party celebrate the release of the EP at Banquet Records (15th November) with an in-store and signing.
