Man/Woman/Chainsaw

Man/Woman/Chainsaw release new single "Adam & Steve" out now on So Young Records.

In the wake of November's critically-acclaimed debut EP for Fat Possum, a riotous, sold-out February headline tour across the UK and a triumphant first trip to Austin for SXSW last month, Man/Woman/Chainsaw have found themselves standing at the forefront of a new wave of British bands "most likely to".

Described by Rolling Stone at SXSW as "a young band in the process of inventing something ecstatically new", the London-based six-piece return this week with a new single "Adam & Steve", part of a special one-off AA release landing on tastemaker label So Young Records.

Recorded by Geordie Greep producer Seth Evans & Margo Broom at RAK Studios and featuring verses shared between dual vocalists Billy Ward and Vera Leppänen, the song is their most immediate and melodic yet, full of a longing for what might be lost.

Billy Ward had the following to say about the song's themes:

"We wrote Adam & Steve last year and it’s our own bittersweet take on the heart-on-sleeve love song. It comes from a place of wanting to find a little fairy tale escapism in modern romance."

"Adam & Steve" will feature as one half of the AA side single, with the second song and further details to follow later this Spring.

Since their debut at 16 years old and across three self-released singles, Man/Woman/Chainsaw have proven themselves as one of the most exciting and unpredictable young acts in the capital, both joyous and raucous in equal measures. 2023's “What Lucy Found There” was to be their breakthrough, securing attention for the band from the likes of international media outlets, BBC 6 Music and more.

Recently celebrating their 100th gig, last November the band truly came of age with their debut EP "Eazy Peazy" landing on Fat Possum Records. Recorded with Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox at Echo Zoo studio in Eastbourne, the group present us with cinematic arrangements, mauled by moments of cacophony; the band’s Billy Ward says of their writing process,

“we thrive on the thin line between pretty and noisy, often trying to jump between the two - it’s that chaos that excites us.”
