Rum Jungle

Australian four piece, Rum Jungle return with new single ‘Chauffeur’ and B-side ‘Move to Cali’. UK/EU Tour this September and October.

The laid back Australian four piece, Rum Jungle, known for their “eclectic sound and infectious energy”, share new single ‘Chauffeur’, a chiller offering drawing on the bands influence of indie rock and good times, which premiered on triple J.

A catchy bass driven single that equally compliments itself melodically with infectious choruses as it does with its driving rhythms. ‘Chauffeur’ is about being internally confident in yourself and trusting the process as you discover who and what you want to be.

Of the track, vocalist and lyricist Benny says:

“Listening back to the very original voice memo, the first verse actually ended up being heaps close to what I mumbled over the out of tune chords the first time it was ever played. Which is sick. Sometimes a track just falls out of thin air into your hands when you’re chasing it the most.”

Chauffeur’ neatly is accompanied by its antithesis ‘Move to Cali’, a voice beckoning a lost dreamer to come to California, a place mythologised for success and wealth, ultimately to find it’s always just out of reach.

This single was once again thanks to the long days with engineer Jack Nigro, and even longer nights with Tasker where the band crafted their previous single ‘Did The Morning Let You Down“shimmering with jangly indie guitars, upbeat drums, a super catchy chorus and an over feel-good vibe” (Earmilk).

Rum Jungle’s latest release Hold Me In The Water, debuted at #3 on the ARIA Vinyl Album Charts and #12 on the ARIA Australian Album Charts back in November, whilst their lead single ‘Dash Of Speed’ landed within the triple j hottest 200 of 2023.

They sold out 80% of their UK tour around The Great Escape including selling out London’s Omeara 4 weeks in advance. Later this year they’ll play more dates in the UK including Village Underground, plus a tour around Europe including Reeperbahn.
